Covid-19 update: 536 new cases confirmed, 25 deaths

As of Monday 13 June, the total number of detected cases of Covid-19 in South Africa is 3,979,126, with 536 new cases.

This represents a 5.6% positive rate, according to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.NICD) confirmed.

Twenty five COVID-19 Related deaths were reported, four of which occurred in the last 24-48 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 101,509.

There have been 32 hospitalizations in the last 24 hours.

The total number of recoveries is 3,856,957 with a recovery rate of 96.9%. South Africa currently has 20,660 active cases.

A total of 25,504,687 tests have been conducted to date in both the public and private sectors.

The total number of vaccines introduced in the country as of June 13 is 36,484,428 vaccines.

Provincial breakdown

The majority of new Covid-19 cases have occurred in Gauteng (206), followed by the Western Cape (115) and KwaZulu-Natal (79).

This is followed by the North West (33), while Mpumpalanga and Eastern Cape reported 32 and 28 new cases, respectively.

The Free State has 25 cases, followed by the Northern Cape and Limpopo with 9 cases, the lowest in a day.
