Fauci tested positive for Covid-19

The agency said on Wednesday that President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser and director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci tested positive for Covid-19.

The 81-year-old infectious disease scientist, who for many has become the face of the government’s response to the coronavirus, is experiencing mild symptoms, the National Institutes of Health said in a statement. He is fully vaccinated and received two revaccinations.

Fauci “is isolating and will continue to work from home,” the NIH said, adding that he has not been in close contact with Biden or other senior officials recently.
