As of Thursday 16 June, the total number of detected cases of Covid-19 in South Africa is 3,983,675, with 1,936 new cases.
This represents a 7.6% positive rate, according to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases.NICD) confirmed.
Eight COVID-19 Related deaths were reported, bringing the total to 101,584.
The total number of recovered people is 3,866,240 with a recovery rate of 97.1%. South Africa currently has 15,851 active cases.
A total of 25,562,966 tests have been conducted to date in both the public and private sectors.
The total number of vaccines introduced in the country as of June 16 is 36,565,633.
The majority of new Covid-19 cases have occurred in Gauteng (680), followed by the Western Cape (397) and KwaZulu-Natal (257).
This is followed by the Eastern Cape with 157, while Limpopo and the North West have 115 and 112 new cases, respectively.
Mpumalanga has 83 cases, followed by the Free State (79) and the Northern Cape (56), which recorded the lowest number of cases in a day.
