Kyrie Irving rumors: Nets reportedly gave star permission to seek signing and trade deals

Trading rumors all around Kyrie Irving appeared to get more serious on Monday with the start of free agents in the NBA in just a few days.

According to numerous reports, Brooklyn Nets allowed Irving is looking into signing and trade options as contract renewal talks between the two parties stalled. But its possibilities are limited. The Los Angeles Lakers proved to be the best direction when it came to salary cap issues.

The New York Knicks are “not interested” in pursuing Irving, while the Los Angeles Clippers are said to be in “wait and see” mode. It is reported by The Athletic..

Irving could pick up his $36 million player option for next season, which would be one of his exit routes, potentially leading to a signing and trade. However, he could not choose his option and sign a contract with another team. New York Post noted that he could join the Lakers on a $6 million deal using a mid-range elimination.

According on ESPNonly the Lakers are interested in signing with the Nets.

Kevin Durant too threatening to leave the Nets if Irving left. The two joined Brooklyn at the start of the 2019 season but only managed one playoff series win.

On Friday, Duran spoke about situation with Irving a little and said he would not interfere.

“There is no participation in this. I mean, I can’t be related to… that’s the person’s livelihood, you know?” Duran spoke about this on The ETCs podcast. “This is much more than me. Being a free agent is one of the most important moments in your career. Nobody else can influence it. I just do myself and wait for the time.”

“Now nothing can happen. I don’t think he will even be able to make a decision before the 29th, I think. So I’ll just let things unfold and see what happens. let’s see what happens. It’s so out of my control that I don’t want to be a part of it. Let’s see what happens.”

Durant was reportedly “advocating for Irving and the Nets to get a long-term deal, but a number of teams are ready to offer him a trade if he becomes available.
