Lots of surprises and snubs from the BET Awards

OUR The 2022 BET Awards featured great performances and big wins for the nominees, some more surprising than others.

Dominating the song charts last year, The Weeknd easily won the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award, while Bruno Mars and Anderson duo Silk Sonic. Paak naturally won Best Group and Album of the Year awards for Evening with Silk Sonic.

Although Kendrick Lamar released the album in mid-May, the album did not receive a nomination, but instead, the rapper somehow won the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist award, and the music video that Lamar made with his cousin Baby Kim for his son Family bonds received the Video of the Year award.

Despite the incident at this year’s Oscars, Will Smith has somehow found recognition again as the actor won the Best Actor award for his performance in King Richardand the film also won Best Picture.

As for female entertainment, Zendaya’s performance in Euphoria as well as Spiderman: No Way Home awarded her the Best Actress award. On the musical spectrum, Megan Thee Stallion and Jazmine Sullivan won the Best Female Hip-Hop and Best R&B/Pop Female Artist awards, respectively.

The big drama associated with this year’s BET Awards, before and after, was the lack of nominations for hip-hop artist Lil Nas X.

Thank you BET Awards. Outstanding zero nominations. Black Supremacy! X succinctly wrote in a now-deleted Twitter post when nominations for the 2022 BET Award were announced earlier in June, showing that the organization does not recognize Lil Nas X’s latest album. Montero or his singles.

In a June 7 statement, the BET Awards responded to him by saying they love him and that he was nominated in 2020 but was not nominated this year by the BET Voting Academy, which is made up of nearly 500 entertainment professionals.”

Three days before the show, Lil Nas X released the music video for “Late to da Party” where he pees on a trophy thrown down the toilet saying “**** BET”.

At the awards ceremony, fellow artist and collaborator Jack Harlow arrived in support of Lil Nas X wearing the latter’s T-shirt.
