Security guards allegedly shot and killed a woman at the XTC cabaret in Dallas.

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Police are investigating what events led to XTC cabaret security guards in Dallas gunning down a woman on Saturday morning. The club claims the guards felt unsafe, but their version of events has been disputed by users on social media.

Officers answered a call from the XTC cabaret, located at 8550 N. Stemmons Freeway, according to the Dallas police. When they arrived, they found the victim, 32-year-old Shalonda Lofton, whom Dallas police identified as Shalanda Anderson, with a gunshot wound.

Lofton was taken to the hospital by the Dallas Fire and Rescue Department, but she was later pronounced dead.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed that Lofton was shot dead by a 26-year-old female security guard. A 30-year-old male guard allegedly also fired his weapon at Lofton’s car.

The Dallas County Public Integrity Attorney’s Office will conduct an independent investigation, but police said a grand jury appeal will be sent to the Dallas County District Attorney’s office.

A statement from XTC Cabaret alleges that the driver ran over a female security guard, who was hired through a third party, as she drove in the wrong direction through the club’s parking lot.

XTC said the security guard was hit by the driver’s car, pinning it between the car and the van. Allegedly, “her leg was crushed and her foot was broken” and “in fear for his life, the guard reportedly shot the driver when the guard was hit and before the driver could seriously injure or kill others..“The cabaret’s statement did not mention whether the other guard fired his weapon.

On social media, users calling themselves friends of Lofton disputed the XTC event schedule and took to the streets on Saturday night to protest her death. Another protest action was scheduled for the evening of June 26th.

The Dallas Police Department is asking anyone with information about this investigation to contact SIU Detective Casey Shelton at 214-671-4707 or by email.
