The Orlando Pirates have made more announcements about moving players at the club and the club have confirmed they will be loaning midfielder Nkanyiso Zunga and defender Bongani Sam to Richards Bay and Maritzburg United respectively.
Zungu, who joined the Pirates back in 2020 from Stellenbosch, struggled for playing time at the Pirates, and the 26-year-old midfielder even struggled to get into the squad for the match.
The midfielder made just two appearances for the club last season, with one game in the DStv Premier League and the other in the Cafe Confederation Cup. The former AmaZulu FC player will be looking to resurrect his once promising career by joining the Pirates with high hopes after several brilliant performances during his time with the Stellies.
Sam, on the other hand, is another player who has struggled to break into the team as he was mainly Pasika Mako as a left-back before injury, while Innocent Maela was also the preferred choice for Mandla Nchikazi and has now left Fadlu Davids as second coach last season.
The club also confirmed that strikers Chegofatso Mabasa and youngster Boitumelo Radiopane would also join Sekhukhun United and Cape Town Spurs respectively. Mabasa had struggled with injuries for most of the previous campaign but managed to make 22 appearances while scoring just three goals.
Whereas the 21-year-old Radiopane will make his mark in the top division of football with an impressive performance in the DStv Diski Challenge thanks to the reserves that saw him promoted to the first team last year.
The Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Richards Bay for the services of Nkanyiso Zungu on a seasonal loan for the upcoming 2022/23 season. Orlandopiratesfc.com can also confirm the departure of strikers Chegofatso Mabasa and Boitumelo Radiopane, who will join Sekhukhun United and Cape Town Spurs respectively,” the club said in a statement.
“In the meantime, Bongani Sam will move to KwaZulu-Natal where he will join Maritzburg United on loan for the season.”
