In the country that produces 1.1 million metric tons of plastic waste annually, the Accra-based company has turned more than 40 million plastic bags (small bags filled with drinking water) into products such as laptop cases, pencil cases and grocery bags since 2007.

“We are creating jobs and also saving the environment,” said Bright Biney, regional manager for Trashy Bags. “If it’s good for the planet, then it’s good for business.”
