That’s what this ‘Ayesha Curry CAN Cook’ T-shirt is about

After Game 5, Stephen Curry showed up to the post-match press conference wearing a gray T-shirt that read “Aisha Curry CAN COOK”.

His shirt was in response to a sign outside a bar near Boston’s Fenway Park that read in chalk: “Ayesha Curry Can’t Cook.”

It was a scathing attack on Ayesha Currie, Stephen’s wife of over 10 years, who has made cooking a central part of her public persona. She has written a cookbook, starred in a Food Network show, and opened restaurants.

And that was just one example of how Celtics fans and Golden State players were arguing with each other in this series. During his Explosion for 43 points in game 4Curry shouted to the fans in the stands. During games 3 and 4, the TD Garden crowd in Boston chanted obscenities at Draymond Green and Clay Thompson, prompting Thompson to sarcastically refer to them as “the real classes”.

At this point in his career, Curry enjoys sparring.

“I’m a petty king, so I know everything about everything,” he said on Wednesday. “I use it as entertainment and just enjoy it.”

He understands that this is born from how much the championship can mean for the city.

“Maybe sometime, in the first year, in the first two years, maybe something took you by surprise just because it was so new,” Curry said. “You wonder how these narratives come about, all the distractions appear here and there. I think the more you get into this environment, the more you use it as entertainment, fun, accept it.

“Honestly, you wouldn’t want it to be any different knowing that you’re on this stage and playing for something that’s really important to a lot of people.”

The Game On bar near Fenway Park also saw Curry’s reaction to the sign.

On Wednesday, he posted an Instagram photo of the band wearing green Celtics jerseys with the caption “Ayesha Curry Can’t Cook” next to the new sign. This one said, “Steph says his wife can cook, it’s like your mother tells you you’re BEAUTIFUL.”
