Body found in car trunk during stop in Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A shocking twist in a police investigation leads Detroit homicide detectives to try to solve a possible murder mystery.

The Detroit Police Department said it did not expect to find a body in the trunk of a car during a surveillance drug case.

Police confirm that undercover officers monitoring the suspected drug store made the decision at 11:45 p.m. Saturday to stop a vehicle leaving the site. Inside the chest, they found something sinister: a corpse.

“It can’t be normalized and we can’t accept something like that in our neighborhoods.” said Pastor Maurice Hardwick, a public figure.

The police arrested the driver and passenger of the car. Before being arrested, they still had to pursue the passenger, who escaped on foot.

At this point, many questions remain about the opening inside the 1998 Mercury Mystique, near Fullerton and Hubbell avenues. We were told that there were no obvious signs of injury.

Toxicological tests are being carried out to determine the cause of death.

Both suspects are still in custody.
