Cyprus ordered the reintroduction of face masks fight against COVID-19 on Wednesday, just over a month after the requirement was lifted, as the number of infections rose again.

Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantela said the requirement to wear a mask in enclosed spaces comes into effect on Friday.

Health experts recommended the move after a wave of infections from people who did not take proper precautions, a Cypriot official said after a cabinet meeting.

Cyprus canceled mask requirement June 1st in most areas.
