Evacuation Order Due to Elektra Fire Spreading in California’s Sierra Nevada

By July 6, the fire in the Sierra Nevada region of California had reportedly grown to over six square miles and prompted evacuations in two counties. The Elektra fire, which began on Monday evening, July 4, is estimated at 3,900 acres and was 10 percent contained as of Wednesday morning. Parts of Amador and Calaveras counties have been issued an evacuation warning, officials said. According to Cal Fire, the official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
