Internships to prepare new generation coaches for the 2032 Olympics

Australian Sports Commission CEO Kieren Perkins says it can be difficult for aspiring coaches to find support on their journey as he welcomes first coach training at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Olympic gold medalist Jared Tallent will join 30 other coaches who will be trained to help the next generation of Australian athletes make it to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane.

Mr Perkins said the current lack of female coaches is a “serious problem”.

“We are very proud that 20 of the 31 coaches are women and being able to provide them with the support and flexibility to develop is fantastic,” he told Sky News Australia.
