If the Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler plans to remain on friendly terms with his former teammates PJ Tucker and Joel Embiid, he sure has a funny way of showing it.
After news broke that Tucker was waiving his contract with Miami and joining Embiid in Philadelphia, the striker thanked the team. Zhara and their fans via Instagram, prompting Butler to act like a jealous ex who can’t come to terms with the relationship ending.
“F— you and @joelembiid, yes, I got him into it,” Butler replied. to Tucker’s mail.
Butler is clearly unhappy that Tucker’s move weakened the Heat and at the same time made Philadelphia better. Tucker would have played a one-year, $7.4 million contract with Miami, but instead receives three years and $33 million from Philadelphia. It would seem that this makes both financial and basketball sense.
Further annoying Butler – which seems hard to do given that he is almost always angry – is the fact that Tucker decided to sign with what team. Butler has been prickly with the 76ers ever since they traded him after the 2018-19 season, with his former Philadelphia teammate Embiid emerging as a legitimate MVP contender.
After the heat has rebounded Sixers from the playoffs in May of this year, Butler walked off the court into the locker room and yelled, “Tobias Harris over me?” This was due to Philadelphia’s decision to sign Harris to a lucrative contract extension instead of keeping Butler, prompting him to move to the Heat.
