China: 4 injured in knife attack on Shanghai hospital

Hospital knife attack in Shanghai, China According to official figures, four people were injured.

This is the second stabbing incident recorded at the 100-year-old Ruijin Hospital since then. COVID Restrictions were canceled last month, according to Reuters.

Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a possible knife attack on the hospital, where they found terrified staff and a bloodied crime scene.

Videos taken from the scene show doctors, nurses and other staff leaving the hospital with their patients.

One witness described the situation as “very shocking” and “very hopeless,” according to Reuters.

According to the report, knife attacks in hospitals in China have become more regular.

“Hospitals are a hotspot for many in China, who are facing problems from advertisers illegally selling admission tickets, long waiting lists for doctors and corruption that can drive up the cost of care,” Reuters reported.

Subsequently, attacks on employees and doctors also became commonplace, according to the report.

Police closed the Ruijin hospital after the attack, with administrators canceling all appointments, Reuters reported. The police are investigating.

The coastal city of Shanghai is the country’s largest city.

The condition of the victims has not been reported.
