CIC Fast Track Expansion Project

Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) plans to complete the expansion of the Cavitex-C5 Canal Trestle – or Segment 3A2: Merville to E. Rodriguez – within the next two weeks.

Raúl L. Ignacio, President and CEO of CIC, said in a statement that the 1.6 km extension will provide motorists with better access to and from Taguig, Pasay and Paranaca, helping relieve local road congestion.

“The Cavitex-C5 link will cover a total of 7.7 km and connect with Cavitex in 2023. This will help reduce travel time by 30 to 45 minutes for motorists traveling from Cavitex to Makati, Taguig and Pasay and vice versa.” he said.

Upon opening, Merville’s entry and exit ramps will be relocated to a new segment, opposite Shell C5 Southlink. At the same time, a service tunnel road will be opened to the public to manage traffic from the Western Service Road to Merville, Pasay and Parañaque.

CIC is in the final stages of work in this segment, installing road signs to help motorists navigate the new traffic in the area after reopening.

“This project also helps relieve congestion on major highways such as EDSA, MIA Road, etc., benefiting about 50,000 motorists daily,” Ignacio said.

Meanwhile, construction of the Cavitex-C5 junction section, which runs between Cavitex and the Sucat interchange, is currently 30 percent complete.
