Netizens criticize the minister for focusing on the wrong foods

MINISTER in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economics), Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed came under fire after he posted photos of him examining food prices at a wet market.

According to his social media post, cabbage and spinach prices have been stable, but banana prices have risen by RM1 per kilogram compared to the previous one.

The post soon drew backlash from netizens who criticized Mustapa for focusing on the wrong foods.

“The problem is chicken, but spinach is stabilizing,” commented a netizen.

“YB, we want the price of AYAM, not BAYAM. We are not Popeye,” said another netizen.

Mustapa is part of the Jihad Against Inflation Special Task Force, led by Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa, whose main role is to collect information from ministries, departments and the public in order to curb inflation and control price increases.
