Tigers hold back Karp and close to third place

Yuki Nishi allowed two tries in 6 ⅓ innings and three pitchers completed the win as the Hanshin Tigers pinned the Hiroshima Carp 3-2 in the Central League on Wednesday.

A win at the historic Koshien Stadium outside of Osaka put the fourth-placed Tigers within one game of third-placed Karp, while Hanshin center fielder Koji Chikamoto was an inch closer to the Japanese record in the number of games in a row with a hit.
