Tim Tszyu’s date with fate was confirmed by the fact that the Australian will soon have to fight the undisputed world champion.
Tim Tszyu has set a date for his first world title fight.
The Australian became the mandatory challenger for the world welterweight title after his comeback victory over Terrell Gausha in America earlier this year.

The win put him on pole position to take on undisputed welterweight champion Jermell Charlo, with the date for the world title fight announced on Wednesday.
Tszyu and Charlo will enter the ring in America on January 28 (that’s January 29 in Australia), the exact venue in the States has yet to be determined.
WBO last month ordered Charlo to defend his belts (WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO) against Tszyu but official confirmation of a bout between the pair was delayed after Charlo also agreed to fight another mandatory challenger, Russian Bakhram Murtazaliev.
Tszyu is still recovering from hand surgery following his March win over Gausha, while Charlo last fought in May when he stopped Brian Castano.
The fight will take place a bit later than Tzu expected as the Aussie predicted the fight would take place in October or November.
“I will go to America for maybe two months to prepare there, get the best sparring and use the best conditions,” Tszyu told news.com.au before the date was announced.
“Just be in top shape and be ready to fight.”
The 27-year-old boxer can’t wait to step into the ring with Charlo and show that he can match the brash punch of the defiant American.
“I want to go straight to the top,” Tszyu said. “I want to challenge the very best in the world. I know that I have everything to win.”
He joked that his plan to defeat Charlo was to “not get hit”.
“Maneuver and don’t get it,” Tszyu said.
“Hit him harder. I want to stop him. I want to stop this guy. I want to hurt him.
“To be great, you have to prove them all wrong. Here’s what you need. Simple “.
