SERE-CHEVALIER, France – Jonas Wingegaard threw all his might into Tadej Pogacar to replace the defending champion as the overall leader of the Tour de France with a victory in an epic and grueling Stage 11 on Wednesday.
Wingegaard, who finished second last year, attacked with 4.9km to go to drop Pogacar, who had been relentlessly attacking the Dane’s Jumbo-Visma team all day and broke down after looking indestructible during the first block of races.
