For example, one profile can be used to communicate with close friends, while the other can be used for colleagues.

Facebook is testing the ability for users to create multiple profiles, each of which can be used for different purposes.
During the test, some Facebook users will be able to create four additional profiles associated with their Facebook account.
Users will still have one main account, but will be able to switch between different profiles with “just two taps”.
Additional profiles will not be required to display the user’s real identity for their display name.
“People can choose any profile name and username for their secondary profiles,” Facebook explained.
However, the platform added that the name and username must comply with its community policies and standards and cannot contain any numbers or special characters.
“The main profiles of people should continue to use the name they use in everyday life,” the message says.
While you may be concerned about people using their sub accounts to troll other users, Facebook says sub profiles will still be subject to Community Standards.
“With security and accountability in mind, Sub Profiles continue to be subject to the Facebook Community Standards, and Facebook is taking action against people who violate these rules,” the post reads.
