Italian pilots help Portuguese firefighters fight forest fires

Crews from Italy’s national fire service (Vigili del Fuoco) helped Portuguese crews fight wildfires on Thursday, July 14, as Portugal struggled to contain the blazes that swept across the country due to soaring temperatures. According to the Vigili del Fuoco website, these footage shows aerial footage of smoke rising from numerous fires around the municipalities of Abiul and Covilha. The Portuguese government has put the country on high alert due to the increased risk of wildfires amid record heat waves from Monday, July 11 to Friday, July 15.
