Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry wowed the audience open championship with incredible shots during the third round on Saturday.
Lowry’s display on Old course on the street. Andrews hit the ninth and tenth holes during the tournament and before McIlroy caused the crowd to roar after throwing from the bunker.
Lowry was in the rough on the ninth hole when he hit the ball accurately. On the green, he picked up enough speed to hit the cup. He raised his hands in salute to the eagle. But it wasn’t finished.
He again served 10 for the eagle. The gallery crowd cheered as he celebrated the two shots.
A little later, McIlroy received his applause.
He was in the bunker for his second shot on the 10th hole and somehow lifted the ball to hit the green and into the eagle’s cup. At that moment he had took the lead from Victor Hovland.
Lowry finished his third round in the fight for the lead. He had three birdies and four scarecrows during the round, but he still threw 69. He was 7 under par in the tournament.
McIlroy still competed by the time the round ended, Lowry was in the lead with Hovland. He had three birds in front of the eagle, and saved steam the rest of the way.
