Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale suffers horrific finger injury and leaves Yankee game

Bad luck Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale again on Sunday as he was forced to leave his outing against the New York Yankees.

Sale left the game in the first inning after he was hit by a line hit off the bat. Yankees outfielder Aaron Hicks. Sale immediately fell into the mud and hurried to leave the field. He was replaced by Hirokazu Sawamura.

It was later revealed that he had broken his little finger.

Sale raised his hand as he descended the embankment. A video from the game showed a crippled finger.

Star pitcher for the Red Sox makes only his second start after returning with a fractured rib. He pitched Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays and seemed to be in familiar form. He threw five close innings, allowing only three hits.

The sale was hit by injury mistake a bunch of times during his tenure with the Red Sox. In 2018 and 2019, he struggled with shoulder and elbow problems. He did not compete in 2020 as he recovered from Tommy John surgery.

He returned in 2021 only to suffer more elbow discomfort.

He hurt his rib during work stoppage. And on Sunday, he hurt his little finger.
