Footage later surfaced of the man urinating off the edge of the roof, and the video inevitably circulated through social media channels.

NSW Police confirmed to news.com.au that a 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Surry Hills Police Station following the incident.

“At around 9:20 p.m. last night (Saturday, July 16, 2022), a man was at the sports stadium in Moore Park when he allegedly climbed onto the top of the scoreboard in the stadium and onto the roof of the spectator stand,” the statement said. .

Officers attached to the Surry Hills County Police Department and the Police Rescue Service arrived and removed the man safely shortly thereafter before he was arrested.

“A 31-year-old man was taken to the Surry Hills Police Station, where he was charged with abusive behavior in or near a public place and climbing buildings on prohibited lands without permission.”

The man has been granted conditional bail and will appear before Downing Center Local Court on Monday 25 July.

A spokesperson for the SCG Trust confirmed to news.com.au that the man would receive a two-year ban from the venue.

Meanwhile, another SCG viewer picked up the furious response England coach Eddie Jones after taunting former Wallabies manager: “You’re a traitor.”

Jones immediately reacted: “What did you say? What did you say? Come here and say it. Come here and say it. Come here and say it.”

The security officer who was forced to intervene told the man, “I spoke to you before, go away.”

According to a message from Sydney Morning Heraldthe patron is believed to have apologized to Jones via email.

Rugby Australia chairman Hamish McLennan said: “This fan’s behavior is totally unacceptable and not welcome at the Wallabies test if he continues like this. We must acknowledge Eddie’s achievements as an excellent export from Australia. There’s too much poppy syndrome in that comment.”
