President Trump lunged at a Secret Service agent, placing his hand on the man’s throat after being told he would not be taken to the Capitol on January 1st. 6, 2021, according to testimony from former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson.

“The president reacted very harshly and very angrily to being told that the Secret Service could not get him to the Capitol after his speech at the Ellipse that day,” Hutchinson said during a hearing Tuesday before the clerk of the court. 6 committee. “I’m the fucking president. Take me to the Capitol right now,” Trump said, according to Hutchinson’s testimony.

Trump walked to the front of the presidential limousine and reached for the steering wheel, Hutchinson said.

This was announced by the head of the Trump secret service, Bobby Engel. Hutchinson said she grabbed Trump’s arm off the wheel, Anthony Ornato, Trump’s chief of operations, told her. Engel was present during the conversation.

“Sir, you need to take your hand off the wheel, we’re going back to the West Wing, we’re not going to the Capitol,” Hutchinson said after hearing Ornato’s words.

“Mr. Trump then rushed towards Engel with his free hand, and when Mr. Ornato told me the story, he pointed to his collarbones,” she said.

Engel was in the room when Ornato told the story to Hutchinson, and he didn’t correct or disagree with the story and hasn’t said it wasn’t true since, Hutchinson said.

In a post on his Truth Social, Trump called Hutchinson’s story “fake”, “sick” and “fraudulent”.
