Chalmers to ‘paint a grim picture’ of economic situation next week

According to Sky News political reporter Andrea Crothers, Treasurer Jim Chalmers will make an economic announcement next Thursday after signaling on Monday that he would “paint a bleak picture.”

“Including spiral inflation, which has led to higher interest rates – and all this against the backdrop of global food and energy instability, as well as increasing debt,” she said.

“The Treasurer said that over the next four years, interest-free payments alone will need to fork out an additional $13 billion.

“Bringing that to $99 billion over that forward valuation period.”
