The superstar couple wed on Saturday at a Las Vegas chapel in an intimate ceremony, almost 20 years after calling off their engagement shortly before the wedding.
“We did it,” J. Lo wrote in her On J Lo bulletin. “Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty-year-old patient. Exactly what we wanted. Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, making the same trip to the wedding capital of the world.”
The ceremony took place in a small white wedding chapel. According to her, Lopez was wearing “a dress from an old movie” and Affleck was wearing a jacket from his closet.
The couple rekindled their romance last year after canceling their wedding in 2004 under heavy media scrutiny. Lopez announced her second engagement in April, showing fans a large green diamond ring in her newsletter.
“They were right when they said, ‘All you need is love.’ We are so grateful that we have this in abundance, a wonderful new family of five wonderful children and a life we have never had more reason to look forward to,” she wrote.
Stay here long enough and you may find the best moment of your life driving through Las Vegas at twelve-thirty in the morning in the tunnel of love, driving with your children and whoever you will spend eternity with. Love is a great thing, perhaps the best of things, and worth waiting for.”
According to court records, Lopez is officially changing her name to Jennifer Affleck. She signed her note: “Love, madam. Jennifer Lynn Affleck.”
