The Coast Guard is actively searching for a missing 35-year-old fisherman who was last seen on South Padre Island.

CORUS CHRISTIAN, Texas (KTRK) — The US Coast Guard is looking for a missing fisherman who was last seen on South Padre Island early Saturday morning, officials said.

At around 5:00 a.m., the captain of a 65-foot commercial fishing boat called the Corpus Christi Coast Guard sector to report that one of his fishermen had gone missing 35 miles off the coast of the Land Cut.

The man is described as being 5’10” tall and weighing 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a tank top and shorts. He was not wearing a life jacket when he went missing, officials said.

The monitors released an emergency marine information broadcast and launched several agencies to search for the fisherman.

The search was joined by the MH-65 Dolphin, the crew of the HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft and the crew of the 33-foot special purpose boat CG Station South Padre Island.
