Tiemoue Bakayoko: AC Milan player stopped by Italian police due to ‘misunderstanding’

AC Milan have confirmed to CNN that it is Bakayoko in the video, but will not officially comment on the matter.

In a statement to CNN, the Milan police spokesperson said: “Referring to the video released today related to the police check carried out on Milan player Tiemoue Bakayoko, we emphasize that the check took place during an operation, the context of which justified the adoption of the strictest security measures. , including for the purpose of self-defense, was carried out in a manner that is absolutely appropriate for the situation of danger.

“Once the person’s identity was established and his non-involvement in the facts clarified, police duties were resumed regularly, without any complaint from the person involved.”

The police added: “It was a misunderstanding, but colleagues behaved correctly.”

CNN has reached out to Bakayoko for comment.

The midfielder is currently under contract with Chelsea but joined the Italian club last season on a two-year loan. He made 14 appearances in Serie A last season, helping Milan win their first league title in 11 years.
