Uber doj lawsuit: Uber and US Department of Justice settle lawsuit over overcharging people with disabilities

Uber Technologies Inc will offer ‘several million dollars’ in damages to more than 65,000 Uber users who have been charged discriminatory fees due to disability, as a settlement of a lawsuit, USA Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Monday. The lawsuit alleges that the hauling company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act.

As part of the agreement, Uber said it intends to waive waiting time fees for drivers who have confirmed they need more time to get to their car due to their disability.
