Ford just showed off his craziest ute to date.
The blue oval took off the covers from F-150 Raptor R in the US overnight.
The new ute delivers stunning performance and a muscular appearance.
Australians may be familiar with the super-popular Ranger Raptor, but the new F-150 takes high-performance aircraft to the next level.
Ford Performance Chief Engineer Carl Widmann said the Raptor R has top performance.
“When customers experience the Raptor R in and out of the desert, the hair on the back of their neck will stand up and they will love every second,” said Widmann.
It is powered by a monstrous 5.2-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine that develops 522kW and 868Nm. This is about three times more than the performance Toyota Hilux and competes with high-end machines from ferrari and McLaren.
Like the Ranger Raptor, the F-150 is built to dominate the rough terrain.
It features 37-inch all-terrain tires, all-wheel drive and best-in-class ground clearance. Upgraded Fox dampers and massive coil springs provide superior off-road stability and flotation.
An array of sensors monitors suspension movement and terrain to make automatic adjustments to suspension setup to further minimize roll and improve ride comfort.
There are several driving modes including Normal, Sport, Quiet and Baja. These various settings change the car’s steering, throttle response, suspension stiffness, and exhaust sound.
The ruggedness of the Raptor R is backed up by its cool looks.
A massive grille with “FORD” lettering, as well as black bumpers and wheel arch extensions, enhance its image. Orange accents, widely used on the exterior and interior, make the Raptor R popular.
The package is rounded off by Recaro sport seats in black leather and Alcantara faux suede. Inside there are carbon fiber inserts and a giant 12-inch touchscreen.
Ford Australia has committed to launching the regular F-150 Down Under in 2023. It will import vehicles from the US and convert them to RHD in Melbourne.

In the meantime, Australians hunting for a high performance monster can buy it.he is Ram TRX.

It also features a desert rally-inspired Baja decor and plenty of luxury kit inside.
The RAM TRX starts at $199,950 plus travel expenses, bringing its price to over the $200,000 mark.
