Fires break out in Essex as England bakes in extreme heat

Smoke from several fires in Essex, England, clouded the skies over Rainham, a suburb of East London on July 19, as shown in the video. Essex Fire reported several field and mechanical fires at Thorpe, Grace, Boreham, Great Burstead, Manuden, Great Sampford, Upminster, Clacton and Colchester. Essex Fire said they received 110 calls on Tuesday “between 10 am and noon” as temperatures in the UK topped 40 degrees Celsius (about 104 degrees Fahrenheit), the highest temperature ever recorded in the country.
