First responders roll up sleeves at Boots and Badges bloody action

Corpus Christie, Texas. Sunday marked the start of the Boots and Badges promotion.

Local firefighters and police compete to see who can collect the most blood donations for the Coastal Bend Blood Center.

On Monday, firefighters and Corpus Christi officers marched past the center’s offices to donate blood. The two-week friendly competition takes place during the season when donors do not come as often.

“We want to make sure that if a member of your family needs blood, that blood is available to them,” says Corpus Christi Fire Chief Robert Rocha.

This campaign has been going on for 18 years and the blood center hopes to get even more support this year. You can make a donation on behalf of an agency of your choice at the following locations.
