‘We are at the start’ of the COVID winter wave: prof. Kelly

Chief Medical Officer Professor Paul Kelly says “we are at the beginning” of this COVID wave, “not at the end.”

“What happens in the future really depends very much on what we do today,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

“And what we have done in the past two weeks is to increase vaccinations, increase protection in care for the elderly … increase the use of masks, increase the choices that people make.

“Not to say that this is a personal responsibility, but this is a collaborative community effort that we need to implement over the next few weeks.”
