Sumo stables COVID-19 outbreak disrupts Nagoya competition

All wrestlers from the Sadogatake and Tamanoi stables have withdrawn from the ongoing Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament due to COVID-related reasons, the Japan Sumo Association said on Wednesday.

No. 2 maegashira Kotonovaka, one of 49 wrestlers from two stables who either contracted the virus or came into close contact with someone who tested positive, fought for the championship with a 7-3 record at the 15-day Dolphins Arena.
