‘Come Home’: Irish Opposition Leader’s Call for Irish-Australian Traditions

Irish opposition leader Mary Lou Macdonald called on all Irish traders living in Australia who want to return home as the Emerald Isle “will need them”.

Ms McDonald, president of the Provisional IRA’s political arm, Sinn Féin, reached out to the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday to “talk directly” to young working Irish people.

“We need to build our homes, build our services,” Ms McDonald told Sky News anchor Chris Smith.

“It’s the same here in Australia, so I think there’s a little trade war going on here over tradition for these incredible skills.”
