Cardinals’ JJ Watt offers to help pay for funerals for fans selling merchandise to cover costs

Arizona Cardinals defenseman J.J. Watt offered to help pay for the funeral grieving admirer who took to social media to sell Watt’s merchandise to help raise money for her grandfather’s services.

Jennifer Simpson tweeted on Wednesday selling a pair of Watt edition sneakers and one of her running shoes. Jersey Houston Texans raise money for grandfather’s funeral.

“I have a $60 pair of Reebok @JJWatt women’s shoes in size 9. I wore them twice,” she wrote in her post, noting five-time professional bowler. “These are great shoes, I’m only selling because we’re raising money for my grandfather’s funeral. I also have a $30 Watt XL Texans women’s T-shirt. Anyone interested?”

JJ Watt of the Cardinals critically summed up the season: “It was a huge failure”

Watt himself responded on Twitter: “Don’t sell your shoes and jersey, we’ll help with the funeral. I am sorry for your loss.”

Watt previously suggested cover funeral expenses for all the victims of the tragedy at the Christmas parade in Waukesh in November. In 2017, he was named NFL Man of the Year by Walter Payton for raising over $40 million in Hurricane Harvey relief.
