Inflation in Bulgaria June 2022

Consumer prices rose 0.88% in June from the previous month, below the 1.21% rise in May. Based on release details, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages fell in June, while prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels rose at a more moderate pace. At the same time, transportation prices grew at a faster pace.

Inflation in June was 16.9% compared to 15.6% in May. The June result represents the highest inflation rate since May 1998. Meanwhile, annual average inflation rose to 9.3% in June (May: 8.1%). Finally, harmonized inflation rose to 14.8% in June from 13.4% in May.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast experts forecast inflation at an average level of 13.2% in 2022, which is 1.2 percentage points higher than last month’s forecast, and 5.3% in 2023.
