Jonas Wingegaard wins stage 18 and gets closer to the title as Tadej Pogakar retires

After 18 intense stages, Dane Jonas Wingegaard had one hand in the 2022 Tour de France title when Tadej Pogacar, defending champion and closest rival, slumped in the Pyrenees on Thursday.

Vingegaard’s single win at Mount Otakam extended his lead to an intimidating 3m26s, while his sportsmanship as he waited for Pogacar to catch up after a downhill crash further cemented his reputation.
