Misaki Emura wins women’s saber world title

Misaki Emura won gold in the women’s individual event at the World Championships in Cairo, beating the world No. 1 from Azerbaijan. 1 Anna Bashta 15-10 in the final on Wednesday.

According to the Japan Fencing Federation, the 23-year-old Olympian from Tokyo became the first Japanese athlete to stand on the podium in individual saber competition at the World Championships or the Olympics.
