NBA legend Jerry West says JJ Redick’s Bob Cousy comments were ‘very nasty’

NBA legend Jerry West did not appreciate the statement former NBA player and ESPN analyst JJ Redick that six-time NBA champion Bob Cousy played against “plumbers and firefighters”.

Redick made the comment in April when he and “First Take” panelist Chris “Mad Dog” Russo discussed Phoenix Suns point guard Chris Paul.

He’s a very smart guy and all, but tell me, what was his career like? What did he do to define games? He averaged 12 points per game in the league. numbers count.

West’s NBA career overlapped Cousi’s for several years, with West playing for 14 years from 1960 to 1974. Kuzi played from 1950 to 1963 before retiring for six years. He returned in the 1969-1970 season, playing in seven games for the Cincinnati Royals. Kuzi won six championships as member of the Boston Celtics and was named to the All-NBA First Team 10 times.

“My era, I was an athlete long before my team,” West continued. “I had a huge vertical and probably no one in the league was much faster than me.
