A Long Island NYPD officer who died in the line of duty was honored to have the street renamed Levitatown Sunday.
NYPD officer Robert Denton was killed 51 years ago while patrolling the 73rd Precinct.
His hometown honored Officer Denton by dedicating Abbey Lane to his memory.
Last year, officer Denton’s friend Ron Bellistri said he tried to rename a street near the site, but the local council turned down the application.
Belistri then contacted Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who approved the street’s renaming.
