NEARLY a decade after it was originally announced, Dungeons and Dragons The film will finally hit the big screens next year.
Unveiled Thursday at the 2022 San Diego Comic Con, the first trailer Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves was revealed teasing the fantasy world from Paramount Pictures and eOne.
Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Sophia Lillis, Rare-Jean Page and Hugh Grant will star in an adventure film based on the popular tabletop role-playing game.
Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis are also part of the cast.
The project is being co-directed and co-written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly and produced by Jeremy Latch.
Grant told the Comic Con audience that “Dungeons and Dragons It has Monty Python sensibility”, while co-star Pyne compared the action comedy’s tone to Game of Thrones as well as princess bride.
Pine said that D&D is a game that should be played in every high school.
He said, “You can get a bully and a jock in a room and I guarantee you that in 20 minutes they won’t remember what class they’re in, who their best friends are, or who the jerk is. They just want to play and laugh.”
Writer-director Goldstein teased that Dungeons and Dragons the franchise could be on the horizon, saying, “There are also lore characters that will provide a runway for several films.”
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves The movie will premiere in theaters on March 3, 2023.
