Australia’s healthcare system overwhelmed by record number of COVID patients as Omicron grows

Official figures showed the number of Australians admitted to hospitals with COVID-19 hit a record high of around 5,450 on Monday as the spread of a highly contagious new Omicron sub-variants burden on the health care system across the country.
