Marles confident climate bill will pass

Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles said he was “confident” that Labor’s climate bill would pass through parliament.

A climate bill setting emission reduction targets for 2030 and 2050 will be presented along with 17 other pieces of legislation when Parliament returns this week.

“What we took with us to the elections is a mandate,” he told Sky News Australia.

“We’ve been very clear to Australians in the most detailed policy the opposition has ever presented in an election on our climate action and that’s what we’re going to bring to Parliament.”
