Pride jersey sparks boycott by rugby league players

Seven players from the Australian National Rugby League’s Manly Sea Eagles are boycotting a league game this week to protest being forced to wear an “inclusive” jersey, drawing criticism from the first openly gay club.

Manly coach Des Hasler said the players were opposed to wearing the Pride jersey for “religious and cultural” reasons and would not play the team’s home game against the Sydney Roosters on Thursday.
