Japan wins East Asian title by defeating South Korea

Tournament hosts Japan won the East Asian Football Federation E-1 Championship for only the second time with a 3-0 win on Wednesday against defending champions South Korea at Toyota Stadium, giving the Samurai Blue their first regional title since 2013.

Goals by Yuki Soma, Sho Sasaki and Shuto Machino in the second half gave Hajime Moriyasu’s team the victory they needed to propel the Koreans to the top of the standings and finish with seven points in three games.
