Russian missile attack on Nikolaev: five killed, seven wounded

At least five people were killed and seven were injured in a strike by Russian troops on a bus stop in the city of Mykolaiv in southeastern Ukraine, the region’s governor said on Friday.

“At the moment, it is known about seven wounded and five killed,” Vitaly Kim said in Telegram.

Although the death toll was four at first, Kim later said it rose to five and seven were injured. He accused the Russian forces of “shelling the city during the day when everyone is minding their own business.”

Earlier Thursday, Mykolaiv was the target of a separate missile attack that reportedly hit a residential area. According to local authorities, three people were injured as a result of the strike.

The repeated bombardments of the city of about 470,000 people are part of an increased number of rocket attacks and shelling across Ukraine, despite Moscow’s earlier claims that it would limit its February 24 invasion to the eastern Donbas region after its all-Ukrainian attack failed. .

At least eight people have been killed and 19 injured in the past 24 hours in the eastern region of Donetsk, the Ukrainian president said in a morning report.

The same source said that at least one person was killed in the northeastern region of Kharkiv, and seven more were injured.

Serhiy Gaidai, the governor of Ukraine’s Luhansk region, said Ukrainian forces were facing six attacks by Russian forces in the east.

“Enemy reconnaissance groups are trying to find weak points in our defense. They attack from different sides and have repeatedly used aircraft, ”he said in Telegram.
