Team Samurai Japan, led by manager Hideki Kuriyama, will begin its campaign for the third World Baseball Classic at the Tokyo Dome on March 9 with a new format, organizers announced on Thursday.
Next year’s tournament will feature five teams in the first round and a knockout game starting in the second round to decide who advances to the final round, which ends in Miami on March 21st.
